These small copper bowls are known as water offering bowls. They also serve as incense burners. You can fill them with either sand or fine salt and then stick the lit incense stick in the middle.

To put out the incense stick, simply turn the stick upside down and burrow the burning tip in the sand.

Water offering bowls (also called “yonchap” in Tibetan) are the most common offering containers in Buddhist shrines. They are used to offer water or are placed on domestic altars to burn incense.

Small and easy to carry around, Tibetans love to set up 7 bowls on their altars or, even, to add more of them.
